My story

“To thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day. ”

— William Shakespeare (Hamlet Act 1, Scene 3)

Hiya!

I am Hande Ustundag. After spending10+ years in corporate and non profit organizations as a communications expert, I have decided to pursue my goal as an entrepreneur. The feeling of being accountable for oneself and owning a life purpose around it was the trigger for me. Then, hack of a long and intense transformation period followed. Becoming a mother has surely contributed a lot to this phase. I guess the mirroring between a parent and child pushes you to be truer to yourself eventually, right?

Nature has been a very healing and embracing companion to my transformation. It offers so much to humankind yet we as people unfortunately have failed our precious companion so many times. This perspective has driven me to act more consciously lately. As a consumer I have started with the least I can do, which is becoming slower. It also meant going back to my roots. Having a darling grandma that fled from her own country because of a war at the time has not only made her tough but also a very creative woman. Leaving all the riches of her family at her so called home, she started from scratch and made a living out of tailoring. She learned and taught how to go slow. For that I am truly grateful to her!

As I was searching in and out about what I can do for a living that would make me feel accountable and be true to myself, I pondered a lot over environment. When I came across all the data formed as a consequence of humankind’s relationship with nature, I was shaken. The most striking was that the garment industry’s contribution to global carbon emissions by 8-10% and that the entire supply chain is so very messed up that millions of workers, majority of whom are women are underpaid for their labour. This is a very daily part of our lives where we can individually do something just by making conscious shopping decisions. Yet we don’t. Then a flood of questions followed. Because of numerable reasons there is a huge amount of misinformation together with lack of information that need to be communicated. Voila!

As a communications expert, what can I do to change that?… The answer to that question eventually lead me to focus my business to sustainability.

So I am calling the curious minds and change makers out there… I am here to support you to make this much needed transformation happen. If you are a textile, fashion or alike business owner that is/wants to be sustainable and if you think I can be a partner to you in communicating your messages to consumers/customers effectively, don’t forget to check out the page where I laid out my services.
